Know your material

Agate is banded chalcedony, part of the quartz family. A polished face reveals layers that may curve around a crystalline center. The material name describes the stone; it does not, by itself, describe its color treatment.

The look of the stone

Explore soft gray, cream and earthy tones alongside our separately described dyed color collections. Rough outer edges and polished faces can sit together in one piece.

Every piece has its own character.

Band width, transparency, crystalline areas and silhouette differ between pieces. An irregular slice is measured by the range given on its product page, rather than treated as a perfect circle.

Color, finish & treatment

Our natural-color and dyed agate collections are labeled separately. Check the individual listing. Small craft slices currently listed in our catalog are non-drilled; discuss attachment and customization before planning a wind-chime project.

Everyday care

A little care goes a long way.

Wipe gently with a soft cloth and dry after cleaning. Keep dyed pieces away from solvents, harsh cleaners and prolonged strong sunlight. Avoid impact on thin edges. Check each product for its intended use and included protective bumpers.
