Know your material

Selenite is a variety of gypsum, a very soft mineral. Selenite is also a familiar retail name for carved gypsum products; our bowl photographs show a white fibrous texture rather than a clear transparent crystal.

The look of the stone

Milky translucency and fine aligned fibers give the polished bowl a changing sheen as the light moves. The visual effect is part of the stone rather than a metallic coating.

Every piece has its own character.

Fiber lines, cloudy areas and translucency vary. Shaped edges and the bowl interior can catch light differently, so color and brightness change with the viewing angle.

Color, finish & treatment

Use the individual bowl listing for dimensions and depth. Decorative use does not imply food-contact suitability, water resistance or any medical effect.

Everyday care

A little care goes a long way.

Dust with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Keep the bowl dry and avoid soaking, running-water cleaning, steam, chemicals and abrasive tools. Gypsum scratches easily; lift gently and store away from harder stones.
