Obsidian
Dark polished obsidian brings a glassy surface and strong contrast to decorative small-stone collections.

Know your material
Obsidian is naturally occurring volcanic glass. Its glassy structure differs from crystalline quartz, even when both are polished into similar small shapes.
The look of the stone
Black and dark brown areas can reflect light sharply on a smooth face. Thin edges may look different from a thicker center when backlit.
Every piece has its own character.
Color, transparency at edges, inclusions and polished shapes differ. A dark surface does not guarantee an identical appearance under all lighting.
Color, finish & treatment
Check the individual listing for size, finish and pack contents. A polished decorative piece is not intended as a cutting tool, even though broken volcanic glass can form sharp edges.
Everyday care
A little care goes a long way.
Protect from drops and impact. Use a soft cloth and avoid abrasive cleaning. Set aside any piece with a damaged sharp edge rather than continuing to handle it as a smooth decorative stone.
