Know your material
Dalmatian Jasper is a familiar trade name. GIA research recommends “Dalmatian stone” because tested material is a mixed rock rather than jasper in the strict gemological sense. The trade label does not establish the exact composition of every piece.
The look of the stone
Cream to light gray areas contrast with dark rounded or irregular markings. Some pieces show brownish areas and a different density of spotting.
Every piece has its own character.
Spot size, number and distribution vary from piece to piece. A tumbled assortment will include areas of both pale background and stronger dark pattern.
Color, finish & treatment
This page uses the existing catalog name while explaining the trade terminology. Product-specific identity, treatment or provenance requirements should be confirmed before an order.
Everyday care
A little care goes a long way.
Use a soft cloth and dry after gentle cleaning. Avoid soaking, acidic or abrasive cleaners, steam and strong impacts. Keep small stones contained when using them for decorative arrangements.
